Dennis: Good morning. As you know, our new 2 kilowatt YLR-HP CW Ytterbium fiber laser is ready for production and we need to come up with a plan for burn-in testing. The laser beam will be delivered using our standard 100 um output fiber coupler
Scott: Since nobody will be supervising the test, we need to make sure that the laser beam is contained in a way that eliminates the risk of fire and will shut down the laser if a problem occurs
Mike: We need to measure laser power and wavelength continuously over a 100-hour period. Burn-in testing is usually conducted over the weekend with little or no supervision so we need some sort of enclosure.
Dennis: And remember, safety is our first concern but we also need to keep cost at a minimum.
